BetterOff is a new service for people who live in Stockport. BetterOff will show you the benefits you are entitled to and will help you to apply for them online. BetterOff also provides information on how to find and apply for jobs.
Advice and Information is available at Local Centres across the borough. We can help you on a range of topics including Council services, benefits, tax credits, consumer problems, money matters, health.
If you are unable to use BetterOff we can help you find out what benefits you are entitled to and help you complete benefit claim forms.
Help is available at drop-in sessions or appointments. If necessary we can visit you at home.
The specialist Help with Benefit Appeals team offers free, confidential and independent advice on welfare benefits & tax credits problems. We provide help for Stockport residents and employees of Stockport Council:
- We can help you challenge a benefit or tax credit decision and argue your case at an appeal tribunal.
- We also deal with complex benefit issues which our advice centres are unable to deal with.
The specialist Debt Advice Team offers free, confidential and independent specialist advice on priority debt and multiple debt issues. We provide help for Stockport residents and employees of Stockport Council:
- We can provide advice and information to help you resolve your debt problem
- We can also advise and assist you with insolvency procedures such as Debt Relief Orders, Bankruptcy and Individual Voluntary Arrangements.
